The cassowary is a real daddy:
The male builds the nest in a depression in the ground, which is padded with leaves and well camouflaged. He mates with only one female, who then lays three to eight large eggs in the nest. The female then moves on and may mate with more males.
The male carefully incubates the eggs for two months and then cares for the chicks for another nine months.
